WHATSAPP has added a new button that lets users keep their best friends closer – and speed dial them in an hurry.
It’s a new favourites tab, and it lets texters find the people and groups they talk to the most more easily.

You can add any contact or group to your ‘favourites’.
Once you click on the tab, all the boring chats with your boss or landlord will be filtered out.
Only your best friends and family members will remain.
It’s not just for texting, either.
It will be available in the calls tab too for when you need to speed dial those closest to you.
How to add to your ‘favourites’
There are three ways to add contacts or groups to your ‘favourites’ tab:
From your chats screen, select the ‘favourites’ filter, and select your contacts or groups there.
From the calls tab, tap ‘Add favourite’ and select your contacts or groups.
Or, simply manage your ‘favourites’ in your settings by going to Settings > Favourites > Add to Favourites, and you can reorder them at any time.
According to WhatsApp, the new feature is currently rolling out to users worldwide and will be available to everyone in the coming weeks.
But despite new features pouring out the woodworks, WhatsApp users are hung up on one missing feature.
iPad woes
In response to WhatsApp’s announcement on X (formerly Twitter), users have continued calls for a WhatsApp app for iPads.
One onlooker asked: “When are we getting an app for iPad OS?”
While another, more defiantly, just wrote: “iPad native App.”
Despite launching on iOS in 2009, a WhatsApp app for iPads is still nowhere to be seen.
iPads have long trailed behind iPhones in terms of what apps are available to them – much to the confusion of Apple fans.
It was only in June of this year that Apple announced that its native calculator app – that has been no iPhones for 14 years – would be coming to iPad.
Fortunately for iPad owners, an app is in the works.
In September last year, it was reported that a beta version of a WhatsApp for iPad app was being tested.
However, there has been no public progress update since then.
