APPLE is gearing up for a major iPhone upgrade and mega fans are already revealing some of the big bonus features we can expect soon.
The iOS 18 public beta is now available, allowing users to test run the new version before anyone else.

And two additions are already getting iPhone owners pretty excited.
Top of the list at the moment is a special “Recovered” album for precious photos or videos that may have been lost or damaged.
This is different to the existing “Recently Deleted” album where you get 30 days to restore any content you’ve binned before it’s permanently purged.
Instead, your iPhone will scan for corrupt media that won’t open in the Photos app.
These are photos or videos that may have been damaged by an unexpected and rare error which can interfere with the file, preventing it from displaying properly.
The new “Recovered” folder will apparently be located in the Ultilities section of the Photos app.
FEELING FLASHING
Another change people have noticed is to the much-loved flashlight – and it makes the feature much more helpful.
It looks like users will finally have a bit more control over the tool beyond a simple zero to four setting.
When you tap the flashlight icon in the control centre you will soon see a big torch animation.
If you slide your finger to the left or the right you can adjust the focus or angle, according to TechRadar.
This could be particularly helpful if you’re trying to create a specific mood for photos.
The iOS 18 update is due to land on eligible iPhones sometime in the autumn.

iOS 18 how to download – joining the beta
The iOS 18 public beta helps Apple detect and squash any bugs, but it’s also great if you want to try the new update early.
This is free (and fairly simple) to download.
Just go to the Apple Beta page here, then register and enrol your iPhone.
Then you can go to Settings > General > Software Update and install the iOS Public Beta once it’s out.
But be warned: test software can be buggy, so make sure to back your device up before installing the iOS 18 public beta.
