DOTHAN, Ala (WDHN) — More information is coming out in the case of a couple accused of killing a man and hiding his body under a house.
Richard Bishop Jr. is charged with one count of murder and one count of corpse abuse in the death of Patrick Parrish. He charged alongside his romantic partner, 33-year-old Courtney Ingram.
Dothan Police say Parrish’s body was found under his house in the 1300 block of Coe Dairy Road after officers conducted a welfare check on May 8. The suspects were arrested nine days later in Eufaula.
During a hearing on Friday, Dothan Police Investigators took the stand and testified that during his second interview with police, Bishop Jr. admitted to accidentally killing Parrish after he “snapped” at a party.
According to investigators, after the party, Parrish made “sexual advances” towards Ingram, which angered Bishop Jr.
Investigators say Bishop Jr. “snapped” and hit Parrish with a wrench, and hit him two more times, killing him despite not meaning to.
Prosecutors claim Bishop Jr. hit Parrish so hard that his eyeball popped out after the first hit.
The investigator went on to say that after hitting Parrish, Bishop Jr. hid the body under the house and drove away with Ingram in Parrish’s truck.
During a hearing in late May, Ingram’s defense team says their client had nothing to do with the murder or the cover-up and was forced to go to Eufaula with Bishop.
Bishop Jr.’s case was sent to a grand jury for indictment.
