A Bengaluru-based software engineer anonymously shared his job offer from Google on social media, triggering an online debate among users with some expressing surprise at the salary package offered by the tech giant, while others were “shocked” to see the person with 10 years of experience being paid below average.
A screenshot of the person job offer was shared by an X user named Kartik Jolapara, a developer working for JP Morgan, revealing how an the individual who has 10 years of experience, and graduated from a tier-3 college with a non-CS background, got such a handsome offer from a top firm like Google.
As per anonymous person’s profile, they were offered a salary package of Rs 65 lakh per annum, on top of additional perks such as, Rs 9 lakh annual bonus, a Rs 19 lakh signing bonus, and a Rs 5 lakh relocation bonus for role of Senior Software Engineer at Google.
Jolapara’s post went viral on X (former Twitter), sparking a debate among users about how a person from a tier 3 college background was able to land such a lucrative offer from Google.

“An IIT fellow gets more than this in campus placement. What is the fuss about… Are non IIT engineer are not adding value?” expressed a third user. “Tier 3 college with no CS background? Now that’s impressive. Not sure if the offer is though,” a user wrote.
