DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) – The Dothan Police Department took to social media late Friday night to speak on rumors of a dangerous situation at Flowers Hospital in Dothan.
“We are aware of rumors circulating on social media of an incident at a local hospital,” the department posted on Facebook. “We want to assure everyone that those rumors are untrue.”
According to the Facebook post, police say they had officers at the hospital as they take every concern and situation seriously.
In the comments section of the Facebook post, several people said that there was allegedly an active shooter on Friday at Flowers Hospital and they were forced to go on lockdown for several hours.
“There is no ongoing incident and no active danger to citizens,” the department said in a post on Facebook.
WDHN has reached out to Flowers Hospital about the incident and is waiting to hear back.
