SONIC has been on a roll lately and has come out of its funk of releasing mediocre games.
Gone are the days of Sonic ‘06 and Sonic Boom, with the last few entries being very well received.

Sonic Frontiers was the most recent modern Sonic game, introducing an open world for the first time in the series.
While Sonic Superstars, a recent take on classic Sonic, was loved for its level design and multiple playable characters.
The next Sonic game to be released is Sonic x Shadow Generations, a remaster of the popular Sonic Generations, with a whole new story starring bad boy Shadow, called Shadow Generations, included in the bundle.
Sega has shown off a number of levels from both the remaster and Shadow Generations.
We saw both modern 3D levels and side-scrolling classic levels from Sonic Generations, but only 3D levels from Shadow Generations.
Shadow has never been in a classic side-scrolling Sonic game, and people wondered how he would work in a Generations game that mixes elements of both.
At Summer Game Fest, a Sega employee told GLHF that there would be side-scrolling sections for Shadow, but exactly how they would work remains a secret.
Fans believe that Shadow will be getting his own classic redesign thanks to a hint given on the Japanese website for the game.
Sonic’s character page for the site has a tab for both ‘Modern’ and ‘Classic’ Sonic, but the Shadow character page is a little different.
Shadow’s page also has two tabs, one is labelled ‘Shadow’ and the other is labelled ‘Coming Soon’.
It’s possible that Shadow’s counterpart could be a different character from Sonic’s classic series, but we know everyone is hoping to finally see a chibi Shadow design.
